Intro to Fusing

This is an informative, fun and rewarding introduction to the basics of Fused Glass Art for all artistic levels. We will talk about several different processes including glass compatibility, studio safety, fusing temperatures and glass cutting. For your class projects, you have a choice of one of either one of the two projects sheets with three projects on each sheet. Be ready to have a good time, be creative and make some glass art for yourself, family or friends. Class completion gives you access to the schools 68 hours a week of Open Studio time.

Rectangles & Squares

Rectangles & Squares

This is an extension of the Introduction to Fusing class. This time you are much more in control of your projects. There will be a fuller explanation of what’s happening in the kiln as it heats and cools your art glass pieces. You get more glass cutting experience along with introducing you to your own cutting boards where you will be cutting your own choice of projects. You will be choosing your own shapes and sizes of projects and slumping molds. You will be shown how to do your own project sheets where you will be telling us how you want your art pieces fired. This second class is designed to make you feel more comfortable using you studio time in a much more productive way. Class completion gives the student access to the schools 68 hours of Open Studio time.

Plate Making Workshop

Plate Making Workshop

Discover the Art of Glass Fusion and Create a 6x6, 8x8, 10x10 or 12x12 Plate.

In this 30 minute workshop you will learn how to use a hammer to create a masterful work of art.

Silver Effects for Fusers

Silver Effects for Fusers

In this class we will be learning about how we can use silver in glass to get a variety of effects.  We will be experimenting with some of the glass that chemically reacts with other glass, what you can do with silver foil and what are luster rods and how they can be used. We will also be using the ring saw and grinder to cut and shape pendants out of the test pieces made in the class.  Each student will be given enough glass and frit to complete all of the projects.

Prerequisite: Intro to fusing or equivalent experience
Duration: 1 - 3 hour class and follow up consultations

Frit & Irid Effects for Fuse

In this class we will be learning about how we can use irid glass to get a variety of effects including using frit, clear, face up and face down fusing.  We will be experimenting with sheet glass that chemically reacts with other glass including using various colors of frit.  We will also be using the ring saw and grinder to cut and shape pendants out of the test pieces made in the class.
