Introduction to Fusing
This is an informative, fun and rewarding
introduction to the basics of Fused Glass Art for all artistic levels. We
will talk about several different processes including glass compatibility,
studio safety, fusing temperatures and glass cutting. Your class projects
include 2 full fused and 2 tack fused pendants, a 4x4 bowl and a 5x8 tray.
Be ready to have a good time, be creative and make some glass art for
yourself, family or friends. Class completion gives the student access to
the schools Open Studio time. All tools & materials provided.

Creative
Mold Making
In this class the student
will be introduced to basic slumping mold concepts. Each student will make
a 6” round plate to take home the next day so make sure to dress for a mess!
The teacher will demonstrate how to make slumping molds out of two found
objects. Students are encouraged to bring in their own objects they want to
make slumping molds of for discussion in the class. All students will take
home a 5 pound box of Best Mix and their 6" plate slumping mold.

Intro to Beadmaking
Studio safety and the proper
use of a glass torch get you making your first glass creations. Learn about
the different types of glass, color mixing and basic forming techniques. The
student will learn to make the basic shapes; round, square, donuts, squished
shapes, tubes and surface decorations using glass rods, strips and frit.
Color reactions will be demonstrated as well.

Intermediate Beadmaking
In this class the students
will learn to make stringer, twisties, filigrana, laticino, encasing with
clear and how to use luster glass. We will be refining our shapes, making
organic shapes, dealing with accidents and forming & decorating hollows. Dot
patterns and simple flowers will also be practiced.

Special Effects for Beadmaking
In this class you will learn
to add bling to your beads. We'll learn how to use Bullseye lustre glass,
sparkly dicro, economical "immitation dicro", multicolored "raku" frit, and
light-catching sugar beads. We'll be using Bullseye glass and Bobcat
torches, with all materials provided.

Introduction to Borosilicate
Studio safety and the proper

with 3 Dimensional shapes we will learn to use hot glass, the foundation of
studies for making glass sculpture.

Torchworking for Fusing
You have learned how to

explore how to combine both disciplines to embellish your pieces.

Ornament Workshop
Learn how to create simple
ornaments. We will be using hollow borosilicate tubing, and the class is
very basic – all levels of experience are welcome with a minimum of at least
having taken the Intro to torchworking class –although students with more
experience behind the torch will have an advantage in this glass.

Theory
Most intriguing about
borosilicate glass are the color effects that can be achieved. Come take
this class and explore color in borosilicate. The course will cover the
basics of working with lusters and strikers in addition to surveying the
relationships between color and light. Class price includes 1 “Northstar”
Color 20 piece Sample Set.

Miniature Glass Blowing
Miniature glass blowing
using a torch – learn how to use borosilicate tubing and explore hollow
forms of glass art.
It is exciting and limitless
the possibilities of what you can make with Borosilicate tubing – and Leah
will introduce
you to this amazing new
skill. Gravity is our most useful tool, students with sufficient time behind
the torch are
more comfortable spinning
things in the flame and will be at an advantage in this class.

include basic principles of “pulling a point” and creating miniature vases
and hollow beads.

– Fun with Critters
Want to create your own fun
glass animals? Do you or a loved one collect glass figurines? Leah will be
sharing the basics for how to make glass critters. You will learn what it
takes to create these fun guys and everyone will make a few of their own.
